The Fight Against Food Insecurity
Through our decades of experience and unique buying power, Ocean State Job Lot acquires food at a fraction of what others pay, including many of the largest regional food banks in the Northeast. In fact, food banks rely on Ocean State Job Lot as a resource to acquire food more effectively.
108 million meals to people in need since 2013
The Impact We’ve Made
Since the inception of the Three Square Meals program in 2013, the Ocean State Job Lot Charitable Foundation has provided the equivalent of 108 million meals to local food pantries, churches, and regional food banks. In 2023, Ocean State Job Lot helped provide nearly 2 million pounds of food – the equivalent of approximately 4 million meals – to organizations including pantries, kitchens, food banks and social service agencies across nine states. With your help, we can continue to fight food insecurity and deliver more meals to families in need through this program.
- In November 2023, we again worked alongside our partners at iHeart Radio stations B101, 94 HJY, Now 93.3; and We Share Hope at the Narragansett Brewery in East Providence, Rhode Island for the Food and Funds Drive to collect money and food to support We Share Hope and other food pantries in the state of Rhode Island. Thanks to the generosity of listeners and customers, we raised tens of thousands of dollars for local families in need.
- Our work to fight food insecurity in the Northeast continues and will remain a focal point for our Foundation for years to come. All costs involved in our procurement of food for donation including labor, warehousing and transportation, are paid for by Ocean State Job Lot’s retail operation, ensuring that 100% of every donation given to our nonprofit foundation goes directly to those who need it most.
