In this blog post, we will concentrate particularly on what we do for our seniors. In 2024, we launched our first-ever Helping Hands for Seniors program. Your donations helped support senior citizens’ organizations, as well as raise funds to empower seniors through senior centers, social services, and health programs.
20% Off Food for Seniors
Ocean State Job Lot is proud to offer a special discount on food for seniors.
All customers ages 62 years and older are eligible to receive 20% off their food purchase on Monday mornings during the first shopping hour of the day.
Food insecurity is a cause we care deeply about, and with food costs on the rise, we want to help seniors make their dollars go further. We carry a wide range of food items, from pantry staples like coffee, pasta, peanut butter, and soup, to essentials for everyday cooking and baking, like oil, flour, and spices, to gourmet goodies you might not expect to find on our shelves.
Any senior who would like to take advantage of this special offer must present a valid photo ID with proof of age to the cashier and ask the cashier to apply for the discount.*

Finally, during September, we offer our annual Senior Deal Days promotion. That’s when we celebrate our customers sixty-two years and older. They’re eligible to receive a Crazy Deal Gift Card equal to forty percent of their purchase when they spend twenty dollars or more. If you are a Job Lot Insider, just present a valid photo ID with proof of age, and ask the cashier to apply the promotion. Not a Job Lot Insider? NO WORRIES! Just sign up for free at the register. With the money you are going to get back, you can stock up on beauty and healthcare items, food, disposable pans and plates, cleaning essentials, garden tools, and whatever else you want! In addition, we have our Feed for Free* program which allows you to earn a Crazy Deal Gift Card and help the community.
How it Works
Buy $10 or more of food from our Feed for Free* display and get a Crazy Deal Gift Card of equal value. Then, you have two choices:
- Feed Your Neighbors: Donate the food you purchased from the Feed for Free* display by placing it in the designated area by the registers. We’ll distribute the food to area food pantries. You’ll still receive your Crazy Deal Gift Card, so your generosity costs you nothing!
- Keep the Food: If you want to keep the food and the Crazy Deal Gift Card, you can do that instead! The choice is yours.
