Gather Your Supplies:

Before you start wrapping, make sure you have all the necessary supplies:

Wrapping paper: Choose a variety of patterns and colors of wrapping paper to suit different tastes and personalities.

Gift tags: Personalize your gifts with tags that include the recipient’s name and a heartfelt message.

Ribbon or twine: Add a festive touch with colorful ribbons or natural twine.

Scissors: Sharp scissors will provide precise cuts.

Tape: Clear tape is best for a clean finish and won’t cover the details of the wrapping paper.

Gift bags or boxes: You may choose to use either in addition to wrapping paper to mix things up a bit.

All of these supplies can be picked up at your local Ocean State Job Lot in our holiday decor department. You’ll find lots of variety at amazing prices!

Five Easy Steps to Wrapping

  1. Choose the Right Size Paper: Measure your gift to determine the appropriate size of wrapping paper. Cut the paper generously to allow for folds and overlaps. You don’t want to have an excess of paper that makes the gift look thrown together with little effort to the person receiving it.
  2. Lay the Paper Flat: Place the gift or gift box in the center of the wrapping paper, ensuring it’s positioned horizontally. This will give the present enough paper on each side to give it a nice, neat presentation.
  3. Wrap the Sides: Bring one side of the paper over the gift and crease it tightly against the side. Repeat with the other side. Make sure it’s nice and tight so there’s no overflow or sloppiness on either side.
  4.  Fold the Ends: Just like the sides, fold the top and bottom ends of the paper over the gift, creating clean edges.
  5. Secure with Tape: Use clear tape to secure the folded edges and any loose ends.

Adding Some Decorative Touches

Now here comes the fun part! Here’s where you get to add that personal touch to your gifts with ribbons, bows, or other embellishments. Tie a ribbon around the package or create a simple bow. Add a personal, touching, or even a silly message on the gift to let the person on the receiving end know how much you care.

Don’t forget to attach a gift tag so that if it goes under a Christmas tree or put on a table with other gifts, you’ll be able to differentiate it from the other gifts. That message we talked about earlier could go here when you attach it to the package with twine, tape, or ribbon.

Consider Eco-Friendly Options:

If you’re looking to be more environmentally conscious, you could opt to use more reusable wrapping materials like fabric or paper bags. You can also use recycled paper or natural materials like twine and dried flowers.

Gift Bags

If wrapping paper is not your thing, you can always use holiday gift bags with your gifts wrapped around tissue paper. It’s quick and easy to pull the tissue paper off the top of the present and then poof, your gift is right there.

Remember, at the end of the day, the most important thing is the thought and care you put into each gift. So, if things aren’t exactly perfect, that’s ok. Happy wrapping and Happy Holidays from Ocean State Job Lot!
